HEALING PRAYERS

HE SENT HIS WORD AND HEALED THEM

Psalm 107:20            He sent his word. And healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

John 1:1                    In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14                  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we behold his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 6:63                  It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Luke 4:18                  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Matthew 8:8              The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Matthew 4:23,24       And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.  And his fame went throughout all Syria and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diver diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Mat 9:35                     And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Luk 9:6                       And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

Luk 9:11                     And the people, when they knew [it], followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

Act 4:22                    For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

Act 10:38       How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

James 5:14    Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

15        And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise   him up; and if hath committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16.       Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man      availeth much.

17.       Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

1Cor 12:9      To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

1Cor 12:30     Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

Rev 22:2        In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.

There are many avenues of thought concerning healing in the Bible.  Obviously this is not an isolated subject as just from the scriptures above which are by far not all of them we can see that one of the most prominent things that demonstrated the Kingdom of God was that Jesus healed many.

Over the years God’s ministers have seen many miraculous healings.  It has been taught that Jesus healed ALL THAT WERE SICK leaving those who still had symptoms or sickness to feel like a stepchild.  However, I feel that there is greater understanding of God’s word today than it was fifty years ago.  In our understanding today we have come to recognize that not only is there need for physical healing but also spiritual, mental and emotional healing.  Many times the need for healing is not just a physical need although the problem is manifested in a physical affliction but the need to be healed is much deeper than that and therefore we must pray not only for physical healing but for mental, spiritual and emotional healing as well.  And I want to point out that Apostle Paul had an affliction that God did not take away because He had a greater purpose in allowing it.

Jesus said in Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Broken hearted –     childhood abuse, divorce, mental and physical abuse

Captive –                   in bondage to addictions, co-dependents- abusive relationships- sexual addictions- pornography, etc.

Set at liberty -            Inner healing, mental and emotional abuse, etc.

There is also the subject of inner healing which we almost all need to some degree unless we were born into the Holy of Holies and never had any problems.

In this introductory course I want us to look at these various aspects of Biblical Healing and let our faith become stronger and increased.  Let us look at some of the different Biblical ways to pray for healing.

  1. Speak the Word.

  2. The Prayer of Faith

  3. Confession

  4. The Laying on of hands

  5. Gifts of Healing

  6. The Prophetic Word

  7. Anointed handkerchiefs and cloths

  8. Deliverance

Today I want to focus on Speaking the Word and the prayer of Faith.  Kenneth Hagin impressed me years ago with his teaching on faith in the Word of God.  God’s Word is anointed and when we believe what the Bible says and pray what the Bible says then we should be able to believe that God will answer.

1.   Speak  the Word

a.         Isaiah 53:5    But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.

b.         Psalm 107:20            He sent his word. And healed them, and delivered them from their destructions

                        c.         John 6:63      It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Speaking the Word a powerful way to pray for others to be healed.  Years aago I experience an awesome presence of God when I was visiting an old man wwho was dying of cancer.  I was a baby Christian and at that time I couldn’t teach, ppreach or sing.  One day this old man who was blind in one eye came to church to r receive prayer for healing but our preacher said, brother, instead of us praying for hhealing let’s get you right with God.  So a few weeks later, since I had no skill to sserve the Lord so I thought I could go visit this old man and buy him a Bible.  So oone day, I found where he lived in an old cabin in the mountains with chickens aand dogs running in and out the door.   They also had a big bin in the yard hholding aluminum cans which they picked up for a living and in this setting being a a new church lady, I went up to the door and asked if I could come in and visit with ttthem.  I had no relatives in heaven.  No one in my family was a Christian, I had no aaunts and uncles or cousins in heaven and so this man who was dying was going ttto be my first friend in heaven.  He was supposed to die in a few weeks he had lllung cancer and all the treatments had not worked; they had done all they could ddo and now he was sent home to die.   I shared with him my desire for him to tell JJesus about me when he got there and we enjoyed chatting for a while.  At the end oof our visit, I offered to buy him and his wife a Bible.  They said it wouldn’t do us aany good because we can’t read.  I thought, I can read!  So I said , I can read, I’ll tttell you what, I’ll come visit you every week until you die and I’ll read the Bible to yyou until the end.  So we agreed.  I had not even read the Bible yet, and someone tttold me to start in the book of John.  I thought we’ll kill two birds with one stone and ttthat way he and I both will read the Bible.  So the first week I read from Chapter oone to four and we enjoyed it.  The next week I went back and he was really sick.   hhe was just laying in his bed and I went into his room and set at the foot of the bed aand started reading.  As I began reading from Chapter five about the pool of BBethesda where the impotent man was healed I kept feeling something coming oout of my mouth that was a strange feeling, it was like some kind of solid or power th was coming from my mouth as I read the Word of God.  There was such an uunusual feeling in the whole room like some kind of orange glow and the old man jujust kept laying there smiling.  I kept on reading as we got to Chapter six and the fefeelings from my mouth continued.  In chapter six the Lord says “eat my flesh,  ddrink my blood” ,and I thought Oh God, this is awful!  But I kept on reading and as as I got to the 63rd. verse which says, “The flesh profiteth nothing, it is the sspirit that quickeneth (meaning makes alive) MY WORDS THEY ARE SPIRIT TTHEY ARE LIFE.”  At that moment, I felt that scripture jump off the page and hit  mme right in the eyes and the Bible seemed to go up into the air and come down i inside my head.  That day, the old man was healed of lung cancer.  He didn’t mmake it in to be my first friend in heaven, my mother went first and I had prayed wwith her to receive Christ shortly before she died.  God sovereignly revealed to me ththe power of HIS WORD.  It will accomplish what he intends for it to do!

I Isaiah 55:8       For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

  1. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

  2. For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bred to the eater;

11. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

2.               Prayer of Faith

We are just like Elijah, he was mere mortal as we yet his prayer of faith was honored by God and it did not rain until he asked.  Our faith to pray for the sick is just as powerful.  If you are obeying God’s word like in James 14 then Satan should have to turn the sick person loose.  One thing that is mentioned in these scriptures is the possibility of sin and the need for confession and forgiveness.  Many times as we have seen in the gospels when Jesus healed, he did it by forgiving sins.

One time at Bible College this woman got up and went outside.  Later as we went out for a break to the student center other women were gathered around her praying and asked me to join.  I quoted the Word in James 14 and then told the devil he did not have the right to stand against the WORD OF GOD!  Guess what?  She was healed instantly!

PRAYING THE WORD

Father God, I come to you in Jesus name and pray over my sister (brother), your word in Isaiah 53:5 says that “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquity, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed.  We speak to this sickness and command it to go because Jesus has taken our sicknesses upon him and we are healed by His stripes.  Your Word also says in Psalm 107:20 that you sent your Word to heal us and deliver us from all our destructions.  Father your Word does not return unto void and we believe that our sister (brother) is healed by your Word.  We will give you all the glory.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

PRAYING THE PRAYER OF FAITH

Father, according to your word in James Chapter 14 we anoint our brother (sister) with oil in the name of the Lord.  We pray over our brother (sister) and command sickness to leave him now.  If he has committed any sins we ask you to forgive him and cover his sins with the blood of Jesus Christ.  We believe that Jesus heals and we offer our faith to you now to bring forth healing.  Just as Elijah prayed that it not rain and you honored his prayer we also pray and believe that sickness must go right now in Jesus name.

In conclusion let me mention that there are different manifestations of healing.  Some are miraculous and instantaneous and others are progressive.  There are scriptures in the Bible which show people were healed as they went so just because you don’t see an instant healing does not mean the prayer for healing is not heard or answered.  You pray, God answers.

Shalom,

Pastor Patricia

PRAY FOR AMERICA

PRAYER FOR OUR PRESIDENT AND OUR GOVERNMENT

Father, in Jesus’ name, we give thanks for our country and its government.  We hold up in prayer before You the men and women who are in positions of authority.  We pray and intercede for the President, the representatives, the senators, the judges of our land, the policemen, as well as the governors and mayors, and for all those who are in authority over us in any way.  We pray that the Spirit of the Lord rests upon them.

We believe that skillful and Godly wisdom has entered into the heart of our President and knowledge is pleasant to him.  Discretion watches over him; understanding keeps him and delivers him from the way of evil and from evil men.

Father, we ask that You compass the President about with men and women who make their hearts and ears attentive to Godly counsel and do that which is right in Your sight.  We believe You cause them to be men and women of integrity who are obedient concerning us that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  We pray that the upright shall dwell in our government … that men and women blameless and complete in Your sight, Father, shall remain in these positions of authority; but the wicked shall be cut off of our government and the treacherous shall be rooted out of it.

Your Word declares that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…” We receive Your blessing.  Father, You are our refuge and stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution and desperation).  So we declare with our mouths that Your people dwell safely in this land and we prosper abundantly.  WE are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus!

“It is written in Your Word that the heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord and you turn it whichever way You desire  We believe the heart of our leader is in Your hand and that his decisions are divinely directed of the Lord.

We give thanks unto You that the good news of the gospel is published in our land.  The Word of the Lord prevails and grows mightily in the hearts and lives of the people.  We give thanks for this land and the leaders You have given to us, in Jesus’ name.

JESUS IS LORD OVER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
